Pioneering Indonesia with the all-electric CBG 500 E

PT Bahtera Bahari Shipyard (PT BBS), a renowned shipyard based in Batam, Indonesia, has once again demonstrated its leadership in the maritime industry by purchasing Liebherr's all-electric CBG 500 E crane. Together with its sister company PT Bahtera Alam Sejahtera (PT BAS), the sale was finalised during the BAUMA 2025 event in Munich, Germany. It marks a significant advancement in the transshipment sector, particularly in Indonesia.

The CBG 500 E crane will be delivered at the end of October 2025 and will be mounted on a crane barge named Leo Trans 10, built by PT Bahtera Bahari Shipyard (PT BBS) and operated by PT BAS. PT Bahtera Bahari Shipyard has a history of building quality ships and providing shipbuilding solutions. This collaboration highlights the strong and cooperative business relationship between Liebherr and both companies.

With the new crane barge and its high performance CBG 500 E, PT BAS will enhance their handling capacities, especially in the bulk sector, with a maximum boom outreach of 43 metres and a maximum load capacity of 65 tonnes Safe Working Load (SWL) in grab operation.

Selamet Widodo, Director of PT BBS and PT BAS, expressed his enthusiasm for the new crane: "The CBG 500 E represents a powerful addition to our fleet, significantly increasing our handling capacity in the bulk goods sector. We are confident that its innovative drive system and performance parameters will meet our operational needs and set new standards in efficiency."

Both companies have a long-standing partnership with Liebherr. PT BBS has already purchased several CBG 350 and CBG 360 cranes from us, which are operated by PTS BAS for bulk handling operations. The acquisition of the CBG 500 E further strengthens this relationship and sends a positive signal to the market about the crane's efficiency and performance.

With the new CBG 500 E, PT BBS and PT BAS are ready to enhance their operational capabilities and continue leading the way in Indonesia's maritime industry.
